Cooking with full spectrum CBD oil is not much different then cooking with other types of oil that are traditionally used. All oils that are cooking grade have certain benefits that can influence the out come of a dish. They can change the flavor, the mouthfeel and consistency of a meal being prepared for your friends, family or a perfect stranger you just meet. The same can be said for full spectrum CBD oil.
All culinary oils have different tolerances to the extremities of the kitchen. Some burn quicker then others, while others add more of the fatty things that your doctor tells you to stay away from (even though those fatty things can taste better and leave you feeling comforted.)
The temperature that full spectrum CBD oil burns at is lower then vegetable oil, olive oil, canola oil and blends. Dropping the temperature when cooking with full spectrum CBD oil is key to using the product. Expect to take a little longer to sauté vegetables or bloom spices. People new to using full spectrum CBD oil in these manners will want to keep an eye on how the oil is reacting to the heat.
Curry Peanut Soup
This is an excellent recipe to substitute full spectrum CBD oil in place of the other traditional oils. The powerful curry flavor blended with the peanut creates a wonderful combination that compliments the earthy flavor of full spectrum CBD oil. If the flavor of full spectrum CBD oil is a concern then blend another oil with it. Feel free to be more liberal with full spectrum CBD oil in this recipe because the other ingredients bring a powerful flavor that will dominate the soup. Rice is an optional ingredient.
2 T Madras curry powder
2 t cumin
1 t crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 T onion powder
1/2 t white pepper
1-2 yellow onions, diced
2-3 bell peppers, diced (vary the colors to add bling to the soup’s appearance)
1 zucchini, diced
1/4 c garlic, minced
1/4 c cilantro, chopped
4 c vegetable or chicken stock
1 12 oz can diced tomatoes
1 1/2 cups peanut butter (preferably crunchy)
1/3 cup oil blend (True Best CBD full spectrum CBD oil and either olive or peanut)
salt and pepper to taste
MRE protein powder made by Redcon1 (optional if you want protein soup)
Directions for CBD Curry Soup
Heat the oil blend on medium heat in a soup pot and add curry powder, cumin, red pepper flakes, onion powder and white pepper when oil is heated. Stir the dry spices until their aroma is present. Take care to not over bloom the spices or it will smell like someone dropped mustard gas in the kitchen and you will want to run outside.
Once the spices are aromatic add the garlic, onions, bell peppers and zucchini. Stir frequently coating the vegetables with the spices. When the vegetables began to show a light browning add the stock, diced tomatoes and cilantro. Bring to a simmer or light boil and stir often. Once hot add peanut butter and stir until dissolved into the soup. Add salt and pepper to taste. If you choose to garnish try using cilantro sprigs, lime or crushed peanuts sprinkled across the top. If using rice cook it separately and serve by ladling the soup over top. Enjoy!
